Symposium

The Hortitecture 01 Symposium is the first of a series of public lectures, focusing on alternative sustainable building strategies that explore the synergies between vegetative material and architecture.

The symposium will compare and analyze architectural solutions that are made with, made for or made from vegetative material, asking for example:

How are plants integrated within the building system?
What kinds of benefits can a new kind of nature-artifact combination offer?
How do the plantings affect the overall environment and architectural design?
What is the maintenance and resilience factor and how scalable are these new solutions?

An interdisciplinary, international symposium will present a variety of innovative horticultural and architectural projects, bringing key players together to discuss the newest discoveries and innovations in the field.

* 5/6 cp - documentation and résumé of 5 lectures (in a given format) plus research on a topic introduced in one of the lectures

The library of both urban planning institutes - the ISU Institute for Sustainable Urbanism and the ISE Institut für Städtebau und Entwurfsmethodik - offers with over 6.000 books a wide range of literature to all kinds of themes that are dealt within the institutes.

The majority of books are found within the "Katalog-Suchsystem der Uni-Bibliothek (UB)".
